Charles H. Runnels

NEW CARLISLE - Charles H. Runnels, 70, of East Ada Street, died at 4 a.m. Saturday at Miller's Merry Manor after an illness. Mr. Runnels retired in 1989 as an asbestos insulator with the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local 75. He was born July 18, 1925, in LaPorte and was a lifetime area resident.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Runnels-Jose of Michigan City and Roxann Runnels of Phoenix; two grandsons; two sisters, Mary Shankland and Edna VanDusen, both of New Carlisle; three brothers, Paul H., Harold and Joseph, all of New Carlisle. He was a member of American Legion Post 297, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 5230, and New Carlisle Lions Club and was a Korean War veteran.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Olive Chapel United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Olive Chapel Cemetery with military services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Road. Memorial contributions may be made to New Carlisle Memorial Park, P.O.
