Clara G. Ruple

MISHAWAKA - Clara G. Ruple, 89, of Mishawaka, passed away of natural causes in the Sunset House Assisted Living Center of Mishawaka on Sunday, October 5, 2008. Clara was born April 26, 1919, in North Liberty, Indiana, to the late Edward and Myrtle E. (Milster) Boone. On January 1, 1942, she married the love of her life, the late Harold Ruple. Harold preceded her in death, passing away on November 22, 1983. Surviving are a brother, Clarence L. Boone of Edwardsburg, Michigan, and a sister, Mable McDermouth of Winter Park, Florida. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, as well as her caretaker, Joanne Cunningham of Granger, who Clara affectionately referred to as "her gal." Clara was preceded in death by her brothers, Woodrow, Forest and Lawrence Boone, and by her sisters, Olive Thomas and Gertrude Beauchamp.

 

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, with funeral services at 3 p.m. in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Services will be conducted by Rev. Dave Stauffer of the New Life Baptist Church, and entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Clara was employed by Boris Smoler's Dress Factory for several years. She was a member of the New Life Baptist Church of Osceola for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed playing BINGO with the residents at her high-rise, and going to restaurants with her friends and family. In her memory, donations may be made to New Life Baptist Church or to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
