Ardie Ruthrauff

MISHAWAKA - Ardie Ruthrauff, 84, died peacefully Sunday, April 13th, in the Tucson Medical Center Hospice, Tucson, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles F. Ruthrauff, on May 14, 2004. She was also preceded in death by one of her sons, Robert Ruthrauff (Kris survives), on July 14, 2007. Her brother, Harold, and sister, Marge, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her four other children and seven grandchildren, Edith Greene (Fred) of Jackson, MS, Joe of South Bend, IN, Bill (Lauren) of Howell, NJ, and Jim (Jeannie) of Granger, IN. Her grandchildren are Ashley Ruthrauff, Alicia and Alex Ruthrauff, Sam Ruthrauff, and Kevin, Jessica and Julie Greene.

 

Born in Ashmore, IL, she attended Eastern Illinois University before moving to Chicago. In 1946 she married WWII veteran Charles F. Ruthrauff. She was a longtime resident of Mishawaka and Granger, IN, where she was one of the area's first female real estate agents. Starting in 1984, she and her husband spent their winters in Green Valley, AZ, and summers at Donnell Lake, Vandalia, MI. For the last several years they were year-round residents in Green Valley, AZ. Ardie was a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf, and was proud of passing her expert knitting skills on to later generations. She had a kind-hearted personality and will be greatly missed.

 

Memorial funeral Mass will be at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26th, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, IN. Friends may call one hour prior. She will be buried next to her husband, Charlie, at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN, following services. Memorial contributions may be made to Carondelet Hospice, 630 N.
