Henry John Ruyling

MISHAWAKA - Services for Henry John Ruyling, 82, of 1013 S. Main, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church. He died about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in his home, after an extended illness. Rev. Christopher Hinckley of St. Bavo’s will officiate, and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home.

 

He was born Aug. 28, 1900 in Didan, the Netherlands, and moved to Mishawaka 60 years ago. On Nov. 30, 1946, in Mishawaka, he married Mary. I. VanDeVelde, and she survives. Also surviving are four step-daughters, Mrs. Josephine Byers of Mishawaka, Mrs. Marion VanTornhort of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Virginia Mroz of Niles and Mrs. Jane Jackson of Mt. Morris, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five sisters, all in the Netherlands. A retired bricklayer, he belonged to Bricklayers Local 18 for 46 years. He was a member of St. Bavo’s and the BK Club.
