Margaret Sabo

July 7, 1911 - May 8, 2000

On May 8, 2000, Margaret Sabo, 88, of Elkhart, Ind., formerly of South Bend, Ind., went to be with her Lord. She died of natural causes in the Eastlake Nursing and Re-habilitation Center, Elk-hart.

On July 7, 1911, in South Bend, she was born to Margaret and Alex Vargo. Margaret worked at Studebaker throughout World War II, and was a devoted wife and mother. On Nov. 29, 1931, in South Bend, as Margaret Vargo, she married Steve Sabo, who died on September 18, 1987, after 57 years of marriage. Mrs. Sabo was also preceded in death by a beloved granddaughter, Kristy Ann Sabo; three brothers, Louis Vargo, Eugene Vargo and Alex Vargo; and by a sister, Mary Fritz.

She is survived by a son, Steven (Kathryn) Sabo of Elkhart; a daughter, Julia (William) Stout of Marion, Ohio; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Helen (James) Scott of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Rose (Raymond) Cinkowski, Mrs. Irene (Carl) Sandor and Mrs. Betty (Paul) Mroczkiewicz, all of South Bend; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Bend.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 10, in the ZAHORAN FUNERAL HOME, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will e recited at 3 p.m.
