Martha Sabo

July 9, 1903August 20, 1999

 

Martha Sabo, 96, of South Bend IN, passed away at 2:29am on Friday, August 20, in Regency Place.

 

Mrs. Sabo was born on July 9, 1903, in South Chicago IL, and had lived in South Bend for most of her life.  She retired in 1967 from the Uniroyal Corp.

 

On September 20, 1920, in south Bend, as Martha Kieloch, she married David J. Sabo, who preceded her in death on November 19, 1986.

 

She is survived by her three grandchildren, Martha Greenwald of Indianapolis IN, William Budzinski of Cerritos CA, and Jim Budzinski of Mishawaka ; eight great grandchildren, David, Matt, Andrew and Maggie Greenwald and Lindsay, Lauren, Justin and Katy Budzinski; a great great granddaughter; her sister, Irene Borkowski of Jacksonville FL; and many special nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Loretta Budzinski on March 9, 1996; a grandson, Larry Budzinski; three sisters, Tillie Herman, Teresa Wroblewski and Kathryn Mikelejewski; and four brothers, Frank, John, Leo and Casmier Kieloch.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday in Holy Cross Church.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 4 to 8pm on Monday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:30pm.

 

Mrs. Sabo was a member of Holy Cross Parish, Rosary Altar Society and Harvest House.  She was also a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance #305 and the American Legion Pulaski Post #357 Women’s Auxiliary.  She was famous for her fried chicken, coffee cake and hand knitted slippers.
