Sister M. Brigetta CSC, 78, of Saint Mary’s Convent, Notre Dame, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday at the convent after a lengthy illness. She was born on Jan. 25, 1904 in Ireland, and as Winifred Sampey entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, at St. Mary’s on July 5, 1928, coming from Chicago. On Jan. 6, 1929 she was received as a novice and two years later made her vows of profession. She was assigned to teaching in schools throughout California, Idaho, Utah, and Ariziona before returning to the convent in 1981.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Loretto Church and burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s. Friends may call until the hour of the service at St. Mary’s Convent Parlors, where a wake will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Mullen of Oak Park, Ill. and Mrs. Elizabeth Keleher of Chicago.
