MISHAWAKA - Cecil P. Sandefur, 81, of Haven Court, died at 6:20 a.m. today in St. Joseph Hospital. Mr. Sandefur retired from the Indiana State Prison, Michigan City. He was born Dec. 15, 1913, in Shelbyville, Ind., and lived in Mishawaka most of his life.

On Aug. 21, 1937, in Mishawaka, he married Leah ''Marie'' Stanage. She survives with five daughters, Pearl Johnson, Thelma England, Gloria Riffle, Connie Sandusky and Beverly Holderman, all of Mishawaka; four sons, Chester, Robert and Sheridan, all of Mishawaka, and Ernest ''Fred'' of Elkhart; 37 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma Cross of Cassopolis, Lubelle Jeronack of Elkhart and Bonita Fleming of Mishawaka; and three brothers, Hubert of Shawnee, Okla., Morris of South Bend and Chester of Mishawaka. Two daughters, Edith Wittner and Caroline May, and a son, Hubert, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hahn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, where a wake will be at 7:15 p.m.
