John Peter Sandfort Sr., 64, of North
Mountain Maple Court, South Bend, Ind., died at 3:40 a.m. on
Saturday, Dec. 16, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South
Bend. He was employed with Honeywell Corporation, South Bend, as
a design draftsman for 40 years. He was born on March 4, 1936, in
Newark, N.J., to the late John and Helen (Van Nuis) Sandfort. He
lived in Alabama from 1966-1976, and moved to South Bend in 1976.
John is survived by a daughter, Cynthia S. Saine of
Cleveland, Ohio; a son, John P. Sandfort Jr. of Terre Haute,
Ind.; two grandsons, Mitchell and Beck Saine; a sister, Helen
(Ed) Jittler of South Bend; and a nephew, Robert Jittler
of South Bend. John was a member of the Chicago Land Mopar
Connection Club, and attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church,
South Bend.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today, Dec. 19, in the HICKEY FUNERAL HOME, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend where friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of services. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, at Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst, N.J. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 535 North Edison, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or the National Kidney Foundation, 911 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN.
