Sister M. Anthony Teresa (Emily Marie Sarzeniak), CSC, 91, was born in Michigan City, Ind., to the late Joseph Sarzeniak and Katherine Bojan Gleason. Sister is survived by her sister, Irene (Karl) Peterson of Trail Creek, Ind.; and by a nephew, Richard "Dick" Peterson of Joliet, Ill.

 

Sister was a student before entering the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in September 1929. She made first profession Aug. 15, 1932, and final profession Aug. 15, 1935. Sister was prepared as a teacher and taught in elementary schools in Indiana and Illinois for 25 years. She was assigned to the Provincial House in South Bend for eight years, after which she taught in elementary schools in Illinois and Indiana for eight years. In 1973 Sister retired to Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent from Saint Mary's School in Michigan City.

 

In 1990 sister transferred to Rosary Convent, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, Ind., where she was active in the Ministry of Prayer. She returned to Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent where she did volunteer services until she retired to Saint Mary's Convent where she was active in the ministry of prayer until her death.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Wake services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
