Richard T. Scanlon

April 13, 1930 - June 26, 1997

SOUTH BEND - Richard T. Scanlon, 67, of Clairmont Drive, South Bend, Ind., died at 2:25 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

He was born on April 13, 1930, in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident.

On April 22, 1950, in Hammond, Ind., he married Lillian ''Skipper'' Parks, who survives. He is also survived by four daughters, Norma Germann, Mary Bajdek, Nancy Laytart, all of South Bend, and Loretta Lizzi of Granger, Ind.; three sons, Michael Scanlon of Mishawaka, Ind., Gregory Scanlon of Osceola, Ind., and Patrick Scanlon of Novato, Calif.; 11 grandsons; eight granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

Mr. Scanlon was a retired electrician working for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 153, and at Scanlon Electric for 27 years. He was a member of Local 153, and of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday in Christ the King Catholic Church. Rev. John Riley will be the celebrant.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where a wake prayer service will be conducted at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
