SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Julia C. "Judy" Schafer, 83, of Southfield Village passed away Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in her residence. Judy was born to the late Cleon Clice and Edna Alena (McClure) Forrest in Frankfort, IN.

 

On Aug. 23, 1950 she married Nelson Conrad Schafer. He died on Nov. 1, 2001. She was a 1947 Graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington with a BS in Education. She was a teacher at both the high school and preschool levels. Mrs. Schafer is survived by her daughter Janice C. "Jay R." Brill of Carmel, IN; her son Steven C. "Karin" Schafer of Mishawaka; three grandchildren: J. Matt "Erin" Brill of Chicago, Catherine A. "Ben" Moser of Chicago, Anne Schafer of Pittsburgh, PA; a step-grandson Matthew "Jenny" Shellito of Elkhart and a step-great-grandson Justin Shellito of Elkhart.

 

Funeral services will be held today at Noon in Sunnyside Presbyterian Church where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Pastor James Miller. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. She was a member of Sunnyside Church, the Art League of the Museum of Art, Service Guild of South Bend, and Pi Beta Phi College Sorority, she was active in Tri Kappa Sorority of Mishawaka.
