SOUTH BEND - Philip O. Schafer, 69, of 1134 E. South Street, died Tuesday afternoon in his residence, after an apparent heart attack. He was a retired project engineer of the Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan. He was born Oct. 2, 1902 in Centre Township. On Nov. 30, 1931 he married Ruby V. Battles, who survives, along with a daughter Miss Freida Ann Schafer of Milwaukee, and a sister, Mrs. William Moss of Bloomington, Ind. He was a graduate of Chicago Technological College. Durin World War II he was commander-in-chief of the Civil Air Patrol for Northeran Indiana.

 

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Welscheimer Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, officiated by pastor of Zion United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Church Scholarship Fund.
