August G. Schalliol

MSIHAWAKA - August G. Schalliol, aged 80, of Madison Township, this county, founder and owner of Klondike Telephone Company, Madison Township, died of a heart trouble this morning if the home of his son Tod Schalliol, rural route No. 1, Mishawaka. He was born March 2, 1857 in Holmes County, Ohio, near Winesburg, Ohio.

 

He was married in Madison Township to Dora Bollenbacher, who died in 1917. In his early years he was a school teacher and a singing instructor in Madison Township. He was also at one time a township trustee. He was an active member of Zion Evangelical Church, Madison Township.

 

Surviving besides his son Tod, are three other sons, Victor, Walter E. and Grover, all of this city; five daughters, Mrs. J. V. Klein, Mrs Elmer Hunsberger and Mrs. Edward Hahn, this city; Mrs. Clem Mochel, South Bend and Mrs. Charles Beehler, Wakarusa, Ind.; 31 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Zion Evangelical Church, Madison Township, this county for August G. Schalliol, aged 80, of Madison Township. Rev Phillip Pobanz, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Madison Township. Pallbearers will be six grandsons of Mr. Schalliol, Eldon R. Schalliol, Allen Schalliol and Ralph Klein, this city and Charles Beehler of Wakarusa. The body may be viewed in the house of a son, Tod Schalliol Rural Route No. 1, Mishawakaa. Until 2 p.m. when a short service will be held. Surviving in addition to those listed Friday is a brother, Julius Schalliol of Wakarusa.
