Roger D. Schalliol, 86, of New Road, Mishawaka, passed away at 10:12 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, in Millers Merry Manor, Wakarusa. Roger was born on Oct. 14, 1918, in Mishawaka, to Thaddeus "Todd" and Nancy (Crofoot) Schalliol. He was preceded in death by his parents, Todd and Nancy, and by two brothers.

On Nov. 30, 1939, in Zion United Church of Christ, Wakarusa, he married the former Esther H. Reum, who preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 1997. Left to honor his memory are his children, Ann (Ron) Moore of Bremen and Leon (Beverly) Schalliol of Wyatt; four grandchildren, Kristi (Bruce) Ostrowski, Debra (Bruce) Schmidt, Tina (Eric) Brown and Todd Scott; and four great-grandchildren.

Roger was a lifelong area resident as well as a lifelong farmer in Madison Township. He was a member of the Lions Club in Wyatt, was a St. Joseph County precinct committeeman and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ.

Family and friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 29, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, in the funeral home, with Rev. Dale Speckman officiating. Burial will follow at Ferrisville Cemetery, Mishawaka.
