Grace H. Scharmach

SOUTH BEND - Grace H. Scharmach, 81,
passed away at noon on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, in Memorial
Hospital. Grace was born on August 31, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to
the late Vincent and Agnes (Laskoski) Ratajczak,
and moved to South Bend in 1948. She is survived by her two
children, Marianne (Charlie) Prue of Mishawaka and Daniel
(Cindy) Scharmach of Granger; two grandchildren, Lena Dunnuck
of South Bend and Ty Scharmach of Granger; great-grandson,
Hunter Dunnuck; and a sister, Esther Ratajczak. Grace was a
supervisor in nutritional services for Memorial Hospital, and
retired in 1992 after 25 years of service. She was a parishioner
of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, and a sacristan at the 5 p.m.
Mass for the last 15 years. She enjoyed gardening and her dog,
Chessie. Thank you to Dr. Fiedler and staff for their care.
Visitation will be today, October 23, 2008, from 3-8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at 10 a.m. in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
