Sister Mary Faina CSC, 85, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the convent after an extended illness. She was born Jan. 25, 1886 in Anzenkirchen, Bavaria, and as Maria Scheibelhuber, entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Sept. 29, 1904, and made her profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1907. She was assigned to housekeeping duties and served in the laundry at St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend for 18 years. She also served Holy Cross Convent and St. Joseph Convent. She had also been assigned to duties in Crawfordsville, Ind.; Anderson, Ind.; Jacksonville, Ill.; and Woodstock, Ill.

 

Friends may call today in St. Mary’s Convent, where a wake service will be held tonight. Services will be in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s.
