Joseph John Scheibelhut

Joseph Scheibelhut, of 224 West Grove Street, for many years a respected citizen of Mishawaka, died at St. Joseph Hospital on Jan. 5 following a prolonged illness caused by cancer of the stomach. He was born in Pottsville, Penn., 61 years ago and moved from Chattanooga, Tenn., 16 years ago. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and two sons, fours brothers and a sister.

Joseph Scheibelhut died at 3:40 this morning at St. Joseph Hospital following an illness of one week. He was 61 years old having been born in Pottsville, Pa. He had lived in Mishawaka for the last 16 years coming to this city from Chattanooga, Tenn. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Monica’s Church. Mr. Scheibelhut lived at 224 W. Grove Street.

Mr Scheibelhut was united in marriage 36 years ago to Elizabeth Kratz, who survives. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Charles Gase, also two sons, George and Charles of Chattanooga, Tenn. There are also four brothers, Frank and Clem of Mishawaka, John and Peter of South Bend, and two sisters Mrs. Mary Raab and Christina Scheibelhut of Mishawaka. Mr. Scheibelhut was employed as an engineer at the Kamm and Schellinger Brewing Company.
