Lura J. Scheibelhut

Aug. 23, 1919 - July 16, 1999

Lura J. Scheibelhut, 79, who resided on Sweetbrier Street, Edwardsburg, Mich., passed away of natural causes on Friday evening, July 16, in her home. She had lived in the Michiana area for over 50 years.

Mrs. Scheibelhut was born on Aug. 23, 1919, in LaPorte, Ind., the daughter of Albert W. and Edith (Hetzner) Kissinger.

After graduation from high school she attended two years of college, and later became a legal secretary working for attorney Boothby of Berrien Springs, formerly Edwardsburg, attorney Jerry O'Connor of Cassopolis, and attorneys Klute-Stone-Campbell of Niles, where she retired from working. She was a former member of Edwardsburg Business and Professional Women.

Mrs. Scheibelhut was married as Lura Jean Kissinger on Aug. 30, 1941, in South Bend, to William C. Scheibelhut, who died on Dec. 15, 1985.

She is survived by a daughter, Martha J. Flanders and her husband, James of Three Rivers, Mich.; two sons, William E. Scheibelhut of North Liberty, Ind., and John W. Scheibelhut and his wife, Carol of South Bend; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Claude Kissinger and his wife, Vi of Hamlet, Ind.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Officiating will be Father David Otto, pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Burial will be in Edwardsburg Cemetery.
