Joseph Scheidl, 73, of 2203 S. Oliver St., died at 3:45 a.m. today in his home after a month's illness. Mr. Scheidl was supervisor of the brew house of Drewry's Ltd. before retiring in 1966. Born May 21, 1901, in Raiding, austria, he had lived here since august, 1922. His first wife, the former Maria Maschler, died in 1950.  On Feb. 23, 1952, he married Rose Scheu, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John Modos and Mrs. William Kierein, both of South Bend; a stepson, William Scheu of South Bend; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a half brother, Andrew of Raiding, and three sisters, Mrs. Johanna Eker and Mrs. Tina Fuchs, both of South Bend. and Mrs. Rose Buzolits of Sun City, Ariz. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Zahoran Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:15 p.m. Friday. Services  will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic church. Rev. Daniel F. Peil, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Mr. Scheidl was a member of the German Club. Memorial  contribution may be made to the St. Joseph County Cancer Society.
