SOUTH BEND – Services for Charles A. Scherpereel, 87, of Crumstown Highway, who died at 4:03pm Friday in Memorial Hospital, will be at 10am Tuesday in Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8pm Monday in St Joseph Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 3:30pm Monday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Visiting Nurses Association.

Mr. Scherpereel retired from Torrington Co., was a farmer and a retailer of vegetables at Farmer’s Market.  He was born November 29, 1906, in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident.  On November 12, 1930, in South Bend, he married Alice VanWynsberghe.  She died June 8, 1992.  Surviving are three sons, Richard of Kingsville TX, Donald of Cassopolis, and Larry of Murrysville PA; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Milliken of South Bend.  He was a member of Torrington Retirees Club.
