Brother Antoninus Schloemer CSC

SOUTH BEND - Brother Antoninus ''Anthony'' Schloemer, CSC, 89, of Dujarie House, died Sunday morning in his residence. Brother Schloemer was born March 21, 1905, in Davenport, Iowa.

 

He entered the Brothers of Holy Cross July 1, 1927, made temporary profession July 2, 1928, and took his final vows July 1, 1931. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Catherine Schloemer of Davenport and Josephine Schloemer of Meza, Ariz.; a niece, Loris Riggs of Granger; and two nephews, Joseph Schloemer of Davenport and John Schloemer of Mishawaka.

 

He served as a prefect and guestmaster at the University of Portland; a staff member of St. Joseph's Navitiate, Rolling Prairie, and Sacred Heart Juniorate, Watertown, Wis.; and acting supervisor and superior at Dujarie House. He was a staff member of the Ave Marie Press, St. Edward's University, Austin, Texas; Archibishop of Hoban High School, Akron, Ohio; and Columba Hall, University of Notre Dame, and Holy Cross Brothers Center.

 

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Holy Cross Brothers Center. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Cemetery, Holy Cross Brothers Center. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Brothers center. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
