Ernest D. Schrader

October 29, 1888 – February 3, 1985

Ernest D. Schrader, 96, of Bremen Manor Nursing Home, Bremen, formerly of 3411 Whitcomb Avenue, died at 6pm Sunday in Bremen Community Hospital.  He was a former schoolteacher and retired from the main branch of the South Bend Post Office.

He was born October 29, 1888, in St Joseph County, and was a lifelong area resident.  On August 2, 1913, he married Grace Pecher, who died March 22, 1971.  On October 1, 1971, in South Bend, he married Alice J. Martin.  She died May 27, 1983.

Surviving are a daughter, Evelyn R. Grose of South Bend; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and three brothers, Otto and John, both of Bremen, and Lester of Lake Worth FL.  A son, Roland, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1pm Wednesday in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel. Entombment will be in Highland Mausoleum.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9om Tuesday in the funeral home.
