Mishawaka - Joseph Schramm, 74, of 1724 Lincoln Way E., was dead on arrival at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital, where he was taken by city ambulance from his home. He had been ill for some time. Born on Aug. 7, 1904 in Borkendorf, Germany, he moved to Mishawaka in 1922 from Germany.  On Feb. 24, 1925 in St. Joseph’s Church, he married Frieda Vogel, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Joseph Jr. of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Karl of Louisville, Ky.; five grandchildren and three brothers, Bernard of Mainz, Germany, Edward of Varrel, Germany and Alfred of East Berlin, Germany.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home. Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph’s Church. Rev. Melvin Herber, assistant pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. He was a member of St. Joseph’s parish and the International Brotherhood of stone masons.
