SOUTH BEND - Gertrude E. Schroeder, 80, of South Ironwood Drive, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka. Mrs. Schroeder was born April 15, 1914, in Chicago, and lived in South Bend for 40 years.
On Aug. 8, 1936, in Chicago, as Gertrude Jacobi, she married LaVerne Schroeder. He survives with two sons, David L. of South Bend and Paul K. of Iowa City, Iowa; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Helen Sieg of St. Germain, Wis. A daughter, Donna C. Larocca, died in 1994, and infant triplet daughters, Jean, Jane and Joan, also preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Joseph's Medical Center Auxiliary and Christ the King Lutheran Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
