Brother John E. Schulte CSC, 70. Died Friday afternoon in Holy Cross House at Notre Dame, after a lengthy illness. Born July 18, 1908 in Detroit, he attended schools in Detroit and St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. He worked for several years with companies in the Detroit area and also served in the Army during World War II. He entered the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1952, and first professed his vows in 1954. From 1954 to 1964 he was business manager for the Catholic Boy, a magazine published by the Indiana Province if Holy Cross. In 1964 he was assigned to the Treasurer’s Office at the University of Notre Dame and resided at residence halls on campus. In 1971 he was assigned to Holy Cross House, where he supervised the financial records until his death. Survivors include two sister in Detroit.

 

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Corby Hall Chapel on the campus, where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m. that evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Moreau Seminary, with burial to follow in the Notre Dame community cemetery.
