Services for Rev. James C. Schultz CSC, 58, who died in a mountain-climbing accident Oct. 4 in Colorado, will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Church, with burial in Community Cemetery on the campus. A wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Moreau Seminary Chapel.

 

Rev. Schultz was born Aug. 15, 1929 in Milwaukee. After receiving a bachelors degree in mathematics in 1951 he served in the Navy. He entered the Holy Cross novitiate on Aug. 15, 1956 in Jordan, Minn. and made his first profession of vows in the Congregation of Holy Cross a year later. After theological studies in Rome, he was ordained to the priesthood on Dec. 3, 1961. He later completed doctorate studies in philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, and taught philosophy at the University of Portland from 1967 to 1973. After a year in campus ministry at Oregon College of Education, Monmouth. He joined the staff of Holy Cross novitiate, first in Bennington, Vt., and later in Cascade, Colo. where he served since 1978.
