Paul E. Schumacher

Nov. 2, 1943 - Jan. 27, 1999

Paul Edward Schumacher, 55, of Chandler Boulevard, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a lengthy illness at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka.

Paul was born on Nov. 2, 1943, in Mishawaka, to the late Paul Schumacher and Helen (Schroeder) Schumacher, who survives.

On May 26, 1978, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, Paul married the former Ginny Pupo, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, P.J. and Chad Schumacher of Mishawaka; a sister, Margaret (Jim) Sherwood of Plymouth, Ind.; and by three brothers, Timothy G. of Toledo, Ohio, James F. of Mishawaka and Philip A. of Cassopolis, Mich.

Paul was a general contractor, operating Schumacher Sons, based in Mishawaka and covering not only Northern Indiana but Southern Michigan as well. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church where he had served on the building and maintenance committees, the Knights of Columbus Council 5521 in South Bend, St. Ann's Catholic Church in Cassopolis, the Diamond Lake Yacht Club, the Antique Classic Boat Association, Carpenter's Local 413, and the Loyal Order of Moose. Paul served in the United States Army until 1969.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka. A Rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus at 5:45 p.m., and a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, in St. Monica Catholic Church, with Fr. William Sullivan officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Paul Schumacher Benefit Fund (to be used for the education of his sons, P.J. and Chad) at any branch of First Source Bank.
