Sister Dorothy M. Schwarzman CSC

Sister Dorothy Mary (Katherine Josepha Schwarzman), CSC, 94, was born in Wein, Mo., to the late Joseph H. and Dorothy Hagen Schwarzman on April 4, 1908. Sister is survived by her sisters, Ann (W.R.) Reeder of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Sue (J.D.) Ray of Carmichael, Calif., Wilma Flaherty of Tacoma, Wash., and Sister M. Lorenzo, CSC, of Saint Mary's.

 

Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross June 1927, and made her first profession August 1930. She was trained as an elementary teacher and taught for 36 years in California schools. She was principal at Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills. In Idaho, Sister taught for 11 years and was assistant principal at Saint Joseph's, Boise. Sister Dorothy Mary retired to Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame, Ind., in 1977, and was a receptionist for 22 years. She then became active in community service and the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.

 

Wake service will be at 4:15 p.m. today, May 7, in the Church of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, in the Church of Loretto, Saint Mary's. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
