SOUTH BEND - James "Jim" Frederick Seaver, 67, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in his home. Jim was born on June 24, 1942, in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, to James and Mary (Doyle) Seaver. He had lived in Battle Creek, MI, from 1967-1983, and had lived in South Bend for the last 21 years. Jim retired from the Eaton Corporation, where he was employed for 35 years. On April 30, 1962, in St. Joseph's Church, Battle Creek, MI, he married Patricia Lou DeMent, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Debra (Rick) Baron of Battle Creek, MI, Cindy Seaver of South Bend, IN, Tina (Robin) Day of Grand Rapids, MI, and Kelly (Terry) Seaver-Haines of South Bend, IN; two sons, Sean (Carolyn) Seaver of Plainwell, MI, and Beau (Carrie) Seaver of Hudsonville, MI; 12 grandchildren, David and Kevin Baron, Joshuah Seaver, James, Colin and Henry Seaver, Devon, Lillian and Olivia Haines, and Morgan, Caitlin and Nathan Seaver; four sisters, Patricia (Norbert) Lambert of Wheaton, IL, Susan (Wayne) Jones of Marysville, TN, Kathleen (Jim) Seaver-Cinq-Mars of Markham, Ontario, and Mary-Ann (France) Seaver-Sutton of Markham, Ontario; four brothers, Michael Seaver of Canada, David (Chris) Seaver of West Chicago, IL, Tony Seaver of Canada and Connor (Ella) Seaver of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada; one aunt, Madge Bowman of Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded by his parents, James and Mary Seaver. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Friday, March 19, 2010, in Corpus Christi Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. today where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Jim was a member of Corpus Christi Parish. He was a charitable contributor of his time and money to the United Way of Battle Creek, MI. A special thank you to the members of the St. Joseph County Police Department and the Clay Fire Department for their compassionate, dignified care and professionalism. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Lou Seaver; daughters, Debra (Rick) Baron, Cindy Seaver, Tina (Robin) Day, and Kelly (Terry) Seaver-Haines; sons, Sean (Carolyn) Seaver and Beau (Carrie) Seaver; four brothers, Michael, David (Chris), Tony, and Connor (Ella) Seaver. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon, Friday, in Corpus Christi Church. Friends may from 11 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive.
