Services for Sister Mary Richardine CSC, 63, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, who died Thursday in Holy Cross Hospital, Jacksonville, Ill., where she had been missioned since 1962, took place at 10:30 a.m. today in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at St. Mary’s College, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus.

 

She was born Elsbeth Seidel in Chicago on Sept. 6, 1902, She received her early education in Chicago and came to St. Mary’s College in 1927. In 1928 she entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross, receiving the habit the same year. She made her profession of vows in 1930. She had taught in Peoria, Woodstock and Chicago, prior to her assignment at Holy Cross in Deming, NM. She was assisted to St. Mary’s Junior School in 1937. She taught at St. Joseph Academy for six years, and for eight years she was at St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend, where she specialized in medical records. Among survivors are three nieces and a nephew, all members of the Congregation of Holy Cross.
