James D. Sellers

OSCEOLA - James D. Sellers, 86, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010, in Elkhart Hospice House. He was born on February 21, 1923, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to the late Elijah W. and Gertrude A. (Muma) Sellers. James has lived in Osceola since 1945. He was a carpenter / superintendent at Local #413 for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He was a treasurer of the union for 18 years. Jim attended the Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was an avid guitar player and, after their retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling in their RV. Jim enjoyed spending time on his computer and gardening. Jim was a very generous donor of time and resources to the National Park Service. Jim and Ruth were members of the RV Association of America. James Sellers, a hardworking community builder as well as a loving husband and family man with be in our hearts forever. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Ruth M. Sellers of Osceola, IN; son, James D. (Marsha) Sellers of South Bend, IN; granddaughters, Shari L. Sellers of Los Angeles, CA and Terri A. (Rigoberto) Olivarez of Mishawaka, IN; seven great grandchildren, Richmond, Philip, Brianna, Paige, Nicole, Madison and Rigo; a brother, Douglas T. Sellers of Mishawka, IN; and a sister, Shirley Sellers of California. A private family service has taken place. A public memorial service will be held at a later date. Elkhart Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association , 30 North Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60602.
