Marin A. Sergeant

March 13, 1919July 30, 2003

 

Marin A. Sergeant, 84, of Lake Lane, South Bend IN, passed away at 7:30am on Wednesday, July 30, in the Saint Joseph Care Center West.

 

He was the only child of Henry and Alice (Dhokers) Sergeant.  They both died when he was 14 years old.  Marin graduated from Central Senior High School in 1937.  Marin also graduated from the South Bend College of Commerce.

 

He married Rosemary Huber on October 12, 1940.  He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; two sons, John Sergeant of Wilmington DE; and Dr. Michael (Beth) Sergeant of St. Anne IL; eight grandchildren, Barry of Rowayton CT; Wendy Cranston of Edison NJ; Holly Flanagan of Philadelphia PA; Michael Jr. of Des Plaines IL; Sarah, Andrew, Timothy and Leah, all of St Anne; and by great grandchildren, Megan and Rowan Cranston, and Arman Julia Sergeant.

 

Marin was a radar technician in the US Navy during World War II.  He was employed at Schulze & Burch Biscuit Company as a manger.  He was an avid chess player, pool player and poker player.

 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm today, August 1, in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road.  A Rosary will be prayed at 4:30pm.  Funeral services will be at 10am on Saturday, August 2, in the Holy Family Church.  Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
