Obituary: Victor G. Sergeant Jr.

March 11, 1924 -- Feb. 3, 2006

                                        

Victor G. Sergeant Jr., 81, of Berkley Circle, Mishawaka, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 3, in his residence.

Victor was born on March 11, 1924, in South Bend, IN, as the son of the late Victor G. and Mamie (Szmanda) Sergeant Sr. On November 15, 1947, in South Bend, he married the former E. Louise Curry, who preceded him in death on October 17, 2004.

Victor is survived by three children, John T. (Lee) Sergeant of South Bend, Michael D. (Marta) Sergeant of South Bend and Vickie L. (Robert) Plonski of Mishawaka. Also surviving Victor are his grandchildren, Scott T. (Kate) Sergeant, Ann (Matt) Hanover, Beth and Jack Sergeant; and four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Carly, Kellen and Aleksandr.

Vic was employed by Interstate Distributing in South Bend before its closure. He then went to work for Wayne Hardware then moving to Sol's Hardware Store in South Bend. Vic also spent many years at West End Hardware Store in Mishawaka. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka, and was a World War II United States Naval veteran. Vic's smile and good humor and also upbeat outlook on life will be missed by his family and many friends.

Friends may call on Monday, February 6, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, February 7, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Robert Yast officiating. Burial will follow at Violet Cemetery in Goshen, IN, where military rites will be conducted.
