Walter Setlak: (South Bend Tribune 12/6/1976)


Walter Setlak, 70, of 2210 S. Scott , died early Sunday in Memorial Hospital after a four-week illness. He was a farmer and had retired from the Whirlpool Corp., Benton Harbor. He was born July 7, 1906, in Chicago and had lived here a year and a half, coming from Eau Claire. On July 10, 1929, in South Bend, he married Mary Penkala. She survives along with two daughters, Mrs. Joanne Glon of New Carlisle, and Mrs. Norma Krieger of St. Joseph; a son, John of Three Rivers; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and seven sisters, Mrs. Julia Milewski, Mrs. Catherine Lipowski, and Mrs. Adeline Nowicki, all of South Bend, Mrs. Alice Gillen of Granger, Mrs. Caroline Hauck and Mrs. Rose Hauck, both of Sodus, and Mrs. Lenora Hertel of Warsaw. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Msgr. John S. Sabo, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today by the Legion of Mary of Our Lady of Hungary Church.
