Sister Mary Josina CSC, 87, died at 12:15 p.m. Friday in Saint Mary’s Convent. Born on June 23, 1892 in Bornacoola, County Letrim, Ireland, as Catherine Shanley, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Feb. 2, 1917. She was received as a novice in 1917 and made her profession in 1919. She was assigned to St. Cecila’s Academy, Washington DC, from 1918 to 1926, and entered Mount Carmel Hospital School of Nursing, Columbus, Ohio in 1926, graduating in 1929. Following graduation she spent her community life in nursing at St. Carmel Hospital in Columbus. She came to St. Mary’s Convent in 1976, when sue retired. She is survived by two sisters, both of New York City.

 

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s. Friends may call today and Sunday in St. Mary’s Convent Parlors, where a wake service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today.
