Brother John Joseph Shea CSC, 70, died at 5 a.m. today in Dujarie House at Notre Dame. He was ill with Parkinsons\’s Disease since 1958. He was born June 29, 1913 in Rurners Falls, Mass., and joined the Brothers of Holy Cross on Aug. 15, 1946. He made his first profession of vows in 1947, and his final profession on Aug. 16, 1952. He graduated with a bachelor of Science and Bachelor of arts degrees in 1937 from Boston University College of Business, and attended Notre Dame from 1947 to 1948. He taught at Holy Trinity High School in Chicago from 1948 to 1949, and in South Bend at St. Joseph High School (formerly Central Catholic) from 1949 to 1951. He then served in the provincial treasurer’s office from 1951 to 1953 at Notre Dame, and later as an accountant for the Foreign Mission Seminary in Washington DC, from 1954 to 1962. He also served as treasurer at Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Conn. from 1962 to 1964, and from 1964 to 1972 at Holy Cross High School in Flushing, NY. He has resided at Dujarie House since 1972.

 

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Valatie, NY.
