South Bend Tribune 8/31/2000

Bill "W.B." Shilling, 58, passed from this life at his home at 8:24 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, with his family surrounding him with love, after a courageous battle with bone cancer. Bill was born on April 18, 1942, in Wilton, Ark., and came to Mishawaka, Ind., at the age of five. He was preceded in death by his dad, William Shilling Sr. in 1994. He was most recently employed at Bethel College, and previously worked in the office of Dodge Manufacturing and AM General. He was a Good Fellows member and an Army veteran.

Left to share his memory and dreams are his wife of 27 years, Carol; daughters, Betty Stafford of South Bend, Ind., and Kimberly Shilling of Mishawaka; son, Michael Shilling of the U.S. Army; granddaughter, Brittany Shilling of Mishawaka; his mother, Geneva Shilling; sisters, Sharon (Michael) Long and Connie (Bob) Johnston; nieces and nephew, Angela and Jason Long, Sara and Stephanie Johnston, and uncle, James Shilling, all of Mishawaka. W.B. will be sorely missed by all who knew him and loved him, but we believe the family chain will be linked again in God's eternal home.

Cremation has taken place and no services will be held, as per his wishes. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of St. Joseph County. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Alford's Mortuary.
