Anna Shipley (Sept. 18, 1915 - March 4, 1998)

Anna Shipley, 82, of East Oakside Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 5:05 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, in Memorial Hospital.

Anna was born on Sept. 18, 1915, in South Bend, to Frank and Elizabeth (Demko) Wincek. Her parents preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank.

On June 17, 1944, Anna was married to Byrd Shipley, who survives.

Anna is also survived by two daughters, Barbara Ann Tafelski and Kathryn (Dennis) Kurek; two sons, George (Jane) Bali and Jack (Delores) Shipley, all of South Bend; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine (Charles) Rhoades; and by two brothers, Steve Wincek and George (Barbara) Wincek, both of South Bend.

She retired in 1977 after 25 years of service with Robertson's Department Store.

Services for Anna Shipley will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Visitation for Anna will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 2718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today.

Donations in memory of Anna Shipley may be made to the American Heart Association.

SOUTH BEND--Anna Shipley, 82, of East Oakside Street, died Wednesday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Survivors include her husband, Byrd; two daughters, Barbara Ann Tafelski and Kathryn Kurek, both of South Bend; two sons, George Bali and Jack Shipley, both of South Bend; a sister, Catherine Rhoades of South Bend; and two brothers, George Wincek and Steve Wincek, both of South Bend. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
