Merl E. Shorb

February 13, 1907 – October 27, 1967

Merl E. Shorb, 60, of 1118 E. 4^th St., an employee of the Mishawaka Park Department, died at 12:30am today in St Joseph’s Hospital following a long illness.

He was born in South Whitley IN, February 13, 1907, and came to the South Bend-Mishawaka area in 1936.  He married Opal E. Cress in Crown Point IN, in 1937.  She died November 19, 1956.  Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Blanche Shorb, South Bend; four sisters, Mrs. Edward Fettel and Mrs. James Riehle of South Bend; Mrs. Samuel Foos, Greeley CO, and Mrs. James Burkhart of Granger, and two brothers, Wilbur Shorb, Granger, and L. Dee Shorb, South Bend.

Mr. Shorb was a veteran of WW II and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1262.  Friends may call in the Bubb Funeral Chapel after 7pm Saturday.
