Sister Mary Gerard Shore CSC

Sister Mary Gerard CSC, 79, died at Saint Mary’s Convent Monday morning following a long illness. She was born Mary Shore in 1889 in Ireland. She received her early education in Kilkenny, Ireland and came to this country in 1909 to enter the Sister of the Holy Cross and received the habit the same year. She made her profession of vows in 1912. During her community life she had been assigned to St. Alphonsus Hospital, Boise, Idaho; St. Ann’s Orphanage in Salt Lake City, Utah; Park City, Utah; Deming N. Mex.; and St. Mary’s Convent. Surviving are three sister, Sister M. Josetta CSC of Sacramento, Calif; Sister M. Patricius CSC of Ventura, Calif.; and Sister M. Patricia Clare CSC of Woodland, Calif.

 

The funeral mass will be offered in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto on the St. Mary’s campus, Wednesday at 6:45 a.m. with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call at the convent parlor today.
