Maribel Short

Oct. 22, 1918 - May 12, 2002

Maribel Short, 83, of Devonshire Drive, South Bend, Ind., died following an illness at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, May 12, in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka, Ind.

Mrs. Short was born Oct. 22, 1918, in Butler, Ind., to the late Vincent and Opal (Freeburn) Holtzberg, and had lived in South Bend since 1958, coming from Fort Wayne, Ind. On July 11, 1936, in Fort Wayne, as Maribel Holtzberg, she married Rollin J. "Bob" Short, who preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1990. She was also preceded in death by three brothers.

She is survived by three daughters, Sue Ann (Louie) Anderson of Des Moines, Iowa, Lana (Ronald) Kelsey of Fredericksburg, Va., and Tara (Frederick) Snyder of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren, Kandi Wood, Louie and Jeffrey Anderson, Ronald Kelsey Jr., Robert and Ryan Kelsey, Jennifer DuPuy, and Kimberly and Karrie Snyder; four great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Toay Augustyniak of Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Short was a member of First United Methodist Church, South Bend.

Cremation will take place at Michiana Crematory, with private graveside services to be held at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
