Christine J. Shoub, M.D.

Feb. 7, 1952 - March 11, 2006

 

Christine Joelle Shoub, 54, formerly of South Bend and Chicago, passed away in Sarasota, Florida, from injuries due to a motorcycle accident.

 

She was born on February 7, 1952, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Virginia (Skalski) Zumbahlen. Christine was a descendant of the Martin and Julia Palicki family, Polish pioneers in South Bend. She was a former parishioner of Sacred Heart Basilica. When she was five years old, her family moved to Chicago.

 

In November 1971, she married Steven Shoub in Chicago. At the University of Illinois, Christine received a pharmacy degree in 1988 and completed Medical College with honors A.O.A in 1992. Her residency in anesthesiology was completed at Northwestern University in 1996. She was appointed chief of surgery at Engelwood Community Hospital, Engelwood, Florida, in 2005.

 

She is survived by her beloved husband, Steven; her dear sister, Corrine Johnelle Barringer of Birmingham, Michigan; three nephews, David, Daniel and Michael Barringer; as well as many cousins in the South Bend area.

 

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at the Jewish Community Center in Venice, Florida.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
