Albert Clayton Shoup

July 15, 1908 - July 27, 1999

Albert Clayton Shoup, 91, residing in Summerfield, Fla., passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, in the Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg, Fla. Mr. Shoup was born on July 15, 1908, in Bainbridge Township, Mich., to the late Clarissa Nichols and Lewis Shoup.

 

He was a long time resident of South Bend and the Michiana area. He retired from Indiana Bell in 1968 after working there for over 42 years. He was involved in Lions Club International, as well as Knights of Pythias, Telephone Pioneers of America, and Pine Meadows Country Club. He was a member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Tavares, Fla.

 

On Aug. 25, 1929 in St. Joseph, Mich., he married Wilma Margaret Marshall, who preceded him in death. They had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 1994. He is survived by his son, Raymond (Patricia) of Michigan City, Ind.; two daughters, Peggy (Russell) Taylor of Lakeville and Susan (Loren) Thompson of Summerfield, Fla.; and by nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia; and by two grandchildren.

 

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 3 in the Union Congregational United Church of Christ, 302 North St. Clair Abrams Avenue, Tavares, FL 32778. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21 at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church. Hiers Funeral Home, Lady Lake, Fla. is handling arrangements.
