MISHAWAKA - Hugh V. Shown, 76, of 431 N. Wenger St., died about 1:40 a.m. today in his home after an illness. Mr. Shown retired in 1979 from Dodge Reliance Corp. after 43 years of service. He was born Sept. 9, 1914, in Sebree, Ky., and lived in Mishawaka since 1928, coming from Kentucky.

On Jan. 19, 1946, in Mishawaka, he married Lois K. Williamson. She died Aug. 12, 1979. On Sept. 19. 1981, he married Grace E. Reed. She survives, with two sons, James A. of Mishawaka and Ronald J. of Cleveland; a stepson, J. William Zimmerman of New Cumberland; a stepsister, Leora Sawyer of Tequesta, Fla.; and a stepbrother, Maurice Duvall of Pacific Grove, Calif. A stepdaughter, Becky Jo Witter, died in 1984.

He was a member of the Lions Club, Mishawaka Rifle and Pistol Club, St. Joseph County Historical Society, Beiger Heritage Inc., received the City of Mishawaka George Award in 1974, and was a veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc., or the First United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
