Jack E. Shrider

Jack E. Shrider, 70, of 406 Terrecoupe, Buchanan, Mich., died early Monday morning, Jan. 4, at home.

Mr. Shrider was born on Aug. 28, 1928, in South Bend, Ind.

He is survived by his wife, Edna (Lauver) Shrider, who he married on June 25, 1948, in Buchanan.

He is also survived by four daughters, Sandra Teichmer of Whitehall, Mich., Salley McAlpine of Lowell, Mich., Suzanne Hipshear of Buchanan and Sherrill Krug of Naperville, Ill.; a sister, Carol Ballard of Niles, Mich.; two brothers, Paul Shrider of Niles and Fred Shrider of Buchanan; and by nine grandchildren.

Mr. Shrider was a member of the Buchanan Moose Lodge #449, was a charter member of the Miss Buchanan Committee, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Buchanan. He had previously worked at the Kawneer Company in Niles. He was the former owner of Captain Jack's Charter Service in St. Joseph, Mich., and Shrider Custom Cleaners in Buchanan.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Swem Funeral Home in Buchanan, with Pastor William Sanders officiating.

Family will receive visitors from 2 to 5 and 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
