William R. Shultz

Dec. 29, 1916 - Oct. 30, 2000

William R. Shultz, 83, of Prospect Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 3:55 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka.

William was born on Dec. 29, 1916, in Mishawaka, to the late Scott and Elizabeth (Priest) Shultz. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick and Ralph Shultz.

He was a lifelong area resident. He retired in 1982 from Wheelabrator-Fry after 45 years of service. William was a member of the Englewood United Methodist Church, Englewood, Fla., and was a member of the Moose and Eagles Lodges of Mishawaka.

On Sept. 3, 1939, in Michigan City, Ind., William married Irma Reid, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Susan (Tom) Sauntry of Woodbridge, Ga., and Rebecca Shultz of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Paul Pollock of North Carolina, Ann Pollock of Virginia, Kevin Scheibelhut of South Bend and Neil Scheibelhut of Tennessee; and by three great-grandchildren, Abby, Ashley and Caitrin. He is also survived by four step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Sauntry of North Carolina, Sean, Micah and Will Sauntry, all of Virginia; and by three sisters, Viola Young of Sarasota, Fla., Rosetta Waelbreock of Mishawaka and Emma Walter of Osceola, Ind.

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather will be best remembered for his zest for life, broad interests, and the wisdom he has left us with. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where friends may call from noon until time of services, with Rev. Dave Inskeep officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
