Helen R. Sieczkarek, 85, of State Road 23, North Liberty, Ind., formerly of South Kaley Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

She was born Jan. 18, 1917, in South Bend, and was the daughter of John Niedosik Sr. and Rose Nowak. On Nov. 24, 1938, Helen married John W. Sieczkarek Sr., who preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lucian and Valentine Niedosik; and by a sister, Lillian Niedosik.

She is survived by five daughters, Mary Lou (Albert) Vega, Joan (Ed) Laskowski of South Bend, Susan (Bill) Kring of Niles, Mich., Julie (Tim) Seward of North Liberty and Cindy Seward of North Liberty; two sons, John W. (Norma) Sieczkarek Jr. of Ooltewah, Tenn., and Frank (Teresa) Sieczkarek of South Bend; 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Buczynski, Gladys Kurcharski of South Bend and Jean Underley of Elkhart, Ind.; and by a brother, John Niedosik Jr. of Granger, Ind.

Helen was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and the D.A.V. Chapter 6 Women's Auxiliary.

Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where there will be a Rosary said at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
