Louis J. Sieg, 94, of South Ironwood Drive, South Bend, Ind., died on Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, in the St. Paul Retirement Community. Louis was born January 17, 1911, in South Bend, to the late Louis and Elda (Haerens) Sieg.

 

He married on Oct. 24, 1936, to Genevieve Bueche, who also preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, Donald (Pamela) Sieg of South Bend and David (Suzanne) Sieg of Sarasota, Fla., and two grandchildren, Lora Sieg of East Lansing, Mich., and Jeffrey (Renee) Sieg of Edwardsburg, Michigan.

 

Louis was employed by Stanz Cheese Company from which he retired at the age of 70. During retirement he served as a courier for Valley American Bank. Throughout his life he also worked as a part-time carpenter. When he truly retired, he lived in the congregate living area at St. Paul's Retirement Community and enjoyed the contentment of his surroundings, attending Mass, reading and watching a good ball game on television. He will always be remembered for his love of God and his family, and his pleasant demeanor.

 

The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, in St. Paul's Retirement Community. A memorial Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in the chapel in St. Paul's. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Retirement Community, to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are being handled by McGann Hay, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend, IN.
