Sister M. Agneta CSC, 93, of Saint Mary’s Convent on the St. Mary’s College campus, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the convent after a lengthy illness. As Agnes Barbara Sieradzka, she was born Dec. 27, 1888 in Poland. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on Feb. 5, 1910; received as a novice on Aug. 15, 1910; and professed her vows on Aug. 15, 1912. Assigned as a teacher for more than 50 years, she taught at St. Hedwig School and St. Mary’s Academy, both in South Bend; Bishop Noll High School in Hammond; and St. Angela Academy in Morris, Ill., before retiring to Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent in South Bend. in 1967, and to St. Mary’s Convent in 1976. There are no immediate survivors.

 

The funeral mass will be offered in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto on the St. Mary’s campus, Monday at 10 a.m. with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call until services in the convent parlors, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday.
